5 Tips for Interactive Notebooks

Tips are useful especially for IN. If i would of known some of theses in the beginning i may have had a better first year with IN. Here are my tips for interactive notebooks:

  1. Have a procedure in place
    • From getting supplies,to working in groups, make sure you have an answer for everything. Using IN can be messy and can lead to classroom management problems, But, if you have procedures in place the benefits of IN will show.
  2. Make sure you have enough supplies
    • Throughout the year, there was several times i ran out of supplies (especially glue). Keep track of your supplies and be prepared submit a request or buy more.
  3. Once students are used to a routine, STICK TO IT
    • After two months of IN i had finally gotten the students to follow the routine set. Then the end of course exam came and i switched it up. The students were so confused and i wasted valuable review time getting them back of track.
  4. Every page won't be spectacular
    • There are times when you have a awesome page, and then the next where it is not engaging. Don't worry, an IN is like a textbook, some chapters provide a lot of information while others provide just the basic.
  5. You don't have to print everything
    • When you look on pintrest you see these beautiful IN where students just color in or write in information, In a school like mine with a printing quota I don't have that ability. So I came up with alternatives instead of printing .
